New Years Eve Old Town AlexandriaIt’s easy to get into the holiday spirit when you visit Old Town Alexandria. Throughout December the beautiful historic buildings are joyously decorated with vibrant greenery and pine and berry garlands, and streets are lined with twinkling Italian lights. Here in Old Town, many residents participate in the tradition of ringing in the New Year together at First Night Alexandria.

First Night Alexandria Offers Fun for All Ages

Follow the glittering lights all the way to the George Washington Masonic Memorial where many of the most popular First Night activities take place. While it’s organized into five distinct areas, this Old Town event is still very walkable, and with so many venues and restaurants participating, there’s something to do on virtually every block.

The packed schedule offers lots of entertaining options to choose from. You can enjoy live music and dancing, comedy shows, arts and crafts for the kids, a classic carnival, delicious food and drink, and more. Just before midnight the countdown begins and at the top of the hour a grand firework display over the Potomac River marks the official start of the New Year. Don’t miss out! To join the celebration, you can buy a ticket at participating shops or online.
